Bellevue, Washington chess access initiative

Newport Chess Outreach

At Newport Chess Outreach, numbers don't define our impact. Smiles do. From the excitement of receiving a new chess set, to innovation in every move, to the energy and sportsmanship at our events, we strive to make chess a source of opportunity, connection, and growth.

Our mission

Because every child deserves to play.

Learn about our mission

Newport Chess Outreach was created to lower barriers to competitive and recreational chess through affordable or free events, beginner programs, and supporting our community.

What we do

Every activity creates new opportunities.

1

Run local tournaments

We organize friendly Bellevue-area events where students, families, and chess players can compete, learn, and support a shared cause.

2

Fund material kits

Entry fees and event proceeds are set aside for chess sets, boards, clocks when available, and beginner-friendly learning resources.

3

Give families a way in

Materials go to families who would benefit from free chess resources, so cost is not the reason a kid cannot keep playing.

Material support

A chess kit can change what practice looks like at home.

We have already given boards and chess materials to 20 people, helping practice continue at home after the tournament ends.
